About the Program

Subsidized by Education and Youth Bureau, the Goodwill Ambassador to Mongolia is a rewarding program organized by the Rotaract Club of Macau. Led by Rotaractors, a team of four peoples between the ages of 18 – 26 will be chosen to go to Mongolia for a period of 8 days to learn more about the local culture between mid November 2007. Rotaract Clubs in Mongolia will organize activities and events such as visiting local firms, schools, factories, offices and national organizations apart from visiting valuable tourist attractions in order to improve participants’ knowledge of Mongolia. The role of the selected team will act as goodwill ambassadors of Macau to promote Macau in Mongolia.

Rotaract Club of Macau will fully sponsor round-trip transportation, accommodation and on-site travel costs for the selected team.  It is a valuable opportunity for participants to explore new experience and knowledge as the selected team will be able to meet, interact and live with Mongolian families, which definitely improve better understanding of Mongolian local culture.

Candidate Requirements

  • This program is open to all university students, university graduates or above.

  • Macau resident, aged 18 - 26.

  • To qualify, applicants must form a team of 2 - 4 peoples.

  • Applicants should possess positive abilities that are competent for being goodwill ambassadors for Macau. Patience, open-mindedness and initiative of the applicants are considered.

Application Details

Applicants need to follow the procedure below:

  1. Download application form from Rotaract Club of Macau homepage at: http://rotaract.rotary3450.org/macau/.

  2. Prepare an English written summary report (within 3000 words) on the topic of
    “To Build a Bright Future, let's Conserve Water & Electricity!”.

  3. Submit an application fee of Mop 60.00/per participating member to our BNU account 9000024295.

  4. Submit the BNU transaction code of the application fee, completed application forms of all participating members, and the summary report by
    - email to: rotaract.macau@gmail.com or
    - mail to: Macau PO Box 406
    on/before Sunday, 26th of August 2007

  5. Qualified teams will be invited to an interview camp on Saturday & Sunday, 22th-23th of September 2007.

  6. Finalists will be notified to do a 15-minute oral presentation in English on the above topic on Saturday, 6th of October 2007.

Interested parties are recommended to attend our Introductory Seminar on 5th of August 2007 (Sunday) at 15:00 at 1/F Centro De Juventude Do Forum (門綜藝館青年活動中心 一樓).

Criteria for Selection

Rotaract Club of Macau will select the suitable candidates by considering:

  • The credibility of information stated in their application forms.

  • The quality of the written summary report submitted.

  • The performance of the applicants during the interview.

  • The content of the 15-minute oral presentation.

  • The performance of the whole team during the presentation.

To ensure that the best team is selected to represent Macau, candidates will also be judged on the following grounds:

  • Scholastic record

  • Language ability

  • Community involvement

  • Characteristic and Potential to be a goodwill ambassador for Macau

  • Age

  • Macau residents

Financial Issue

As stated, Rotaract Club of Macau will fully sponsor round-trip transportation, accommodation and on-site travel costs for the teams. Rotaract Club of Macau will also provide further information regarding financial issue upon the selection of the winning team.

Basically, the participants are responsible for:

  • Visa Application cost.

  • Personal expenditure during the trip.

  • Incidental cost per individual

Additional Information

Candidates need to take note of the following:

  • All participants must agree to abide by all the rules and regulations of the program as designated by Rotaract Club of Macau.

  • All participants must accept the supervision of Rotaract Club of Macau, the Rotaract Clubs in Mongolia and host families during their stay in Mongolia.

  • All participants must serve as a role of ambassador of Macau and represent positive image.

  • All participants must agree to respect new culture and people differences.
